Here is a sneak peek of the trends for Spring 2017 fashion.
I had so much fun shooting with Nikk downtown! It was such a great experience and I am so happy with how the pictures turned out. Pairing a fun skirt with a simple top is an easy way to put together a New Year’s Outfit. With a high neck tank, extra jewelry is not needed. A super easy way to create an outfit is to start with a simple black skirt and pair it with a statement top. To top off your outfit, add a simple clutch or crossbody purse and put on a pair of heeled boots or wedges. The top I am wearing is from Design Lab, the mini-skirt is from Cotton On, and the booties are from Target.
Here are some other examples of easy ways to pair a skirt and a top. Crop tops are great to pair with high waisted skirts. If you don’t have a crop top, simply tie up your favorite tee to the side or tuck it into the front of your skirt ( pictured in the first photo above). Surprisingly enough, one of my favorite places to find skirts is Goodwill. Goodwill has fun and unique skirts that you won’t find anywhere else. Another awesome place where you are sure to find a skirt is Forever 21.
A simple black dress makes a perfect outfit for New Year’s Eve. The Black dress with the blue detail above is Design Lab and the purse is from Sam Moon. What I love about this dress is the small accent of blue. To add a pop of color, I added the blue crossbody purse and to make the outfit edgier I wore my black booties. This dress can be dressed up with heels, and so can the other dress pictured with the ruffle and mesh detail. The second dress pictured is from Design Lab. The ruffles and mesh on this dress create a fun and playful look. For a pop of color, I added statement earrings from Design Lab and a red crossbody purse from Forever 21. These two dresses have endless options when it comes to accessorizing. That’s what is great about a simple black dress: you can dress it up in so many ways.
Here are some other fun mini-dresses. In these outfits, I dressed them up with a pair of tights. Wearing tights is a simple way to complete an outfit. Also, pairing a leather or suede jacket to a mini-dress can create an edgy look. Mini-dresses are so easy to dress up or down, so based on how fancy your New Year’s Eve event is, there are endless options with a mini-dress.
For a more casual look, pair an oversized sweater with a skirt. With a solid color sweater, pair your favorite leather, print, or even glitter skirt with it. In the pictures above, the sweater and choker are from Design Lab and the leather skirt and over-the-knee boots are from Forever 21.
If you’re not really a skirt or dress person, try wearing a romper. In both of the outfits above, I wore gray Sam Edelman over-the-knee boots, but rompers can also be dressed up with heels as well. The short sleeve romper is from Marshall’s and the long sleeve velvet romper is from Target. Rompers can be easily accessorized by a choker or dangle necklace.
On New Year’s Eve, you don’t have to wear a skirt, dress, or romper: you can wear jeans! Wearing a nice blouse with jeans and heels can make the perfect outfit. By wearing the off the shoulder silk blouse, I dressed up a simple pair of black jeans. I accessorized by adding gold statement earrings from Design Lab and a black sequined crossbody purse. A nice silk, velvet, or sequined blouse is perfect for New Years. To make the outfit even dressier, try wearing heels with your jeans. My silk off-the-shoulder shirt is from Forever 21, the shoes are from target, and the jeans are from Goodwill.
Statement earrings are a great way to dress up and add pops of color to your outfit. All of the earrings above are from Design Lab.
For a fancy New Year’s Eve event, wear a maxi-dress with accents of sparkle. This dress above is from Design Lab, and what I love about this dress is the distressed pattern and accents of silver. Instead of a simple solid color maxi dress, try wearing a fun print with some accents of sparkle. To accessorize, wear a pair of heels (colored heels can add a fun pop of color), a clutch, and you can even add a colored lip.

Velvet dresses are very in right now, and they make perfect party dresses. The dress I’m wearing above is from Blu Sperro Boutique and only $42. What I love about this dress in particular, is that you can style it so many different ways. For a more edgy look, I paired the dress with a suede biker jacket (Forever 21), black choker (Forever 21), black bralette (Forever 21), tights, and heeled black boots (Target). To dress it up, you can pair the dress with heels, and bold jewelry. To make the dress more casual, you can throw a jean jacket over it and wear ankle boots, or even sneakers.
Two Piece Outfits are great for New Year’s Eve parties. The two-piece I’m wearing is from Design Lab, the top was $45 and the skirt was $55. I dressed this look up with earrings from J. Bird Jewelry from Design Lab. Two-pieces can also be more dressed up with heels and an overcoat. A small purse or clutch can be used to add a pop of color to the outfit. Other two-pieces can be found at Boohoo.com , Nordstrom, Charlotte Russe, and many other stores. Also, you can purchase a separate crop top and pencil skirt to create your own two-piece.
This Fringe Detail Dress is perfect day-to-night transition dress. To make this dress more appropriate for the day, simply throw on a casual jacket. For a night look, the fringe detail on the back creates a edgy contrast, and can be paired with simple jewelry. The dress pairs well with ankle boots or heels. For a pop of color, a lip color or a colorful clutch can complete your outfit. Dresses with the perfect print are hard to find. When searching for print dresses, try to avoid dresses with too many colors or too big of print. Certain prints can be very distracting and unflattering.
